Who God Says You Are As A Woman (Part 1): You Are Chosen, Not Chasing
Who God Says You Are As A Woman (Part 1)
You Are Chosen, Not Chasing
Hi sweet friend,
Can we take a deep breath together?
Because in a world that constantly demands more—more beauty, more productivity, more perfection—it’s easy to feel like we’re always coming up short.
Maybe you’ve felt that ache.
Like you’re trying so hard to keep up… to be a good mom, a faithful friend, a strong woman of God… and still, there’s this quiet question inside:
Who am I, really? And am I enough?
Let me remind you of something sacred today:
You don’t have to chase identity.
You already have one.
You are chosen. Not because of what you’ve done, but because of who He is.
📖 “You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” — Song of Songs 4:7
You Are Not a Label or a Role
You are not just “the helper,” “the fixer,” or “the one who keeps it all together.”
Those may be things you do, but they are not who you are.
You’re not the role you’ve been handed—whether it’s wife, mom, caregiver, ministry leader, or career woman.
You’re not the expectations culture has placed on your shoulders—or the ones you’ve placed on yourself.
And hear this:
You are not the number on a scale, the number in your bank account, or the title on your resume.
You are not the mess of your past or the lie someone spoke over your life.
You are not the silent battles you’ve fought or the seasons of struggle you’ve walked through.
You are not your failures.
You are not your achievements.
You are not who others think you are.
You are who God says you are.
You are His.
Chosen. Beloved. Redeemed. Free.
Held by grace. Covered in mercy. Called by name.
📖 “I have called you by name; you are mine.” — Isaiah 43:1
And sister—He doesn’t make mistakes.
You Were Made in His Image
There’s something sacred about the way God made you—not just as a person, but as a woman.
Your tenderness? It reflects His gentleness.
Your tears? They echo His compassion.
Your intuition? It whispers of His wisdom.
Your ability to nurture, to comfort, to create beauty? That’s Him in you.
When you hold space for others, when you pray with fierce love, when you care for your children, your community, or your calling with quiet strength—that’s not small.
That’s not secondary.
That’s divine.
📖 “So God created mankind in His own image… male and female He created them.” — Genesis 1:27
You weren’t made to shrink to fit someone else’s idea of “enough.”
You weren’t made to blend in or to strive for validation.
You were made to reflect the image of God—as a woman—on purpose and with purpose.
There is glory in your femininity. Not in the way the world defines it, but in the way God designed it:
Strong and soft. Humble and bold. Tender and tenacious.
You are not “less than.”
You are deeply known. Fully equipped. And divinely designed.
So What Does It Look Like to Actually Live This Out?
Here are a few gentle, everyday ways to step into this truth:
1. Speak Truth Over Yourself—Out Loud
When you hear a lie like “You’re failing” or “You’re too much,” pause and speak what God says instead.
-
Try writing a sticky note on your mirror:
“I am chosen. I am not chasing.” -
Or whisper a Scripture when your thoughts spiral:
“I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14)
2. Stop Apologizing for Your Design
Are you naturally nurturing? Creative? Sensitive? Bold?
Instead of shrinking or hiding it—thank God for it.
Say it aloud:
“This is not a flaw. This is a reflection of my Creator.”
3. Create Beauty Without Needing Permission
Whether it’s decorating a space, writing words, baking bread, or encouraging someone—you carry God’s creative DNA.
Don’t wait for it to be perfect or impressive. Let it be worship.
4. Choose Rest as Resistance
Resting doesn’t mean you’re lazy—it means you trust that your worth isn’t in your work.
So take a nap. Light a candle. Read a book with zero “purpose.”
Let that be a quiet act of holy defiance against the pressure to prove.
5. Practice Looking in the Mirror with Kindness
This one’s hard—but powerful.
Each day, pause for 10 seconds in front of the mirror and thank God for one thing about your body or your being.
“Thank You for my strong arms that hold my babies.”
“Thank You for my eyes that notice beauty.”
“Thank You that I am made in Your image.”
Not because you feel it. Because it’s true.
You’re Not Meant to Strive for Worth
God never asked you to hustle for His approval. He’s already chosen you.And that means…
You don’t have to earn love—you are already loved.
You don’t have to be perfect—you are already enough.
You don’t have to compete—you’re already complete in Him.
📖 “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” — Zephaniah 3:17
Journal Prompt: Who Told Me That?
Take a quiet moment today and ask:-
What messages have I believed about who I’m supposed to be as a woman?
-
Are those messages rooted in truth—or comparison, culture, or fear?
-
What would it look like to live as someone who is already chosen?
What quality in me—empathy, creativity, discernment, loyalty, leadership—might reflect part of God’s image?
-
Where have I been apologizing for something God actually designed on purpose?
Then, write something like this prayer in your journal:
God, I’ve been listening to voices that don’t sound like You. I’ve tried to prove my worth, compare myself, and keep performing. But today I want to rest in the truth: I am chosen. Not chasing. Loved, not lacking. Help me live like a woman who knows who she is in You. Amen.
From My Heart to Yours
Sister, you are not forgotten in the noise. You are handcrafted. Heaven-backed. Deeply seen by the One who formed you.
And next time, we’ll continue this journey by talking about something every woman wonders at some point: What is my purpose?
Not just the big calling, but the quiet, daily ways God designed you to live a life that matters.
You don’t have to figure it all out—you just have to keep walking with the One who already knows the way.
I’m so glad we’re walking it together.
Until then, be gentle with yourself.
You’re not just welcome here—you’re wanted here.
As always, drop a comment if you want prayer. I’d be honored to pray with you. We’re in this together, and I’m so grateful you’re here.
With love always,
Ashley Lynn Lord 💕
