What It Means to Be Anchored

What It Means to Be Anchored

⚓ Finding Stability When Life Shifts Beneath You

Hi friend,

Have you ever had one of those days—or seasons—where it feels like the ground is moving beneath your feet? Like no matter how tightly you hold on, something (or everything) is slipping through your fingers?

Yeah. Me too.

And if I’m honest, even after surrendering to Jesus, I still have those days. But the difference now? I’m not gripping onto the world—I’m anchored in something far more steady. Or rather, Someone.

📖 “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” – Hebrews 6:19

I remember the first time I read that verse and actually felt it. It was during a night when fear had me wide awake—questions about my future, my family, my worth. Everything in me wanted to run for a “quick fix.” Scroll social media. Shop online. Call someone for validation. Distract, numb, escape.

But instead, I grabbed my Bible and just whispered, “Jesus, help me.”

That night didn’t magically fix everything. But something settled in my spirit. Not everything was okay—but I was okay, because I wasn’t alone. That was the night I realized what it truly means to be anchored.

So What Is an Anchor, Really?

An anchor is what keeps a boat from drifting. It holds fast, even when the winds pick up and the waves crash.

In our lives, storms are inevitable. Disappointment will come. People will fail us. Our plans will fall through. But when our hope is in Jesus—not in the outcome, not in the plan, not even in ourselves—we stay grounded.

His will is better.
His grace is enough.
His presence is steady.

Being anchored doesn’t mean life is calm. It means you are, because your heart is tied to something unmovable.

What Are You Anchored To?

For a long time, I was anchored to the wrong things—success, relationships, approval, even control. And when those things cracked, so did I.

But Jesus—He doesn't crack.
He doesn't move.
He doesn't leave.

If you’re feeling tossed around right now, can I gently ask: What’s your anchor? Is it holding you? Is it steady when the storm hits?

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need to reach for the One who does.

A Prayer for the Unsteady Heart

Lord,
When the waves feel too big, remind me that You are bigger.
When my plans fall apart, help me trust that Yours are better.
Be the anchor for my soul when fear whispers lies.
Steady my heart, Jesus.
Hold me fast in Your love.
Amen.

From My Heart to Yours

Sweet friend, if you're walking through something right now—grief, uncertainty, anxiety—you are not alone. And you don’t have to carry it all. Let Him be your anchor.

And if things are going great for you today? Beautiful. Celebrate that. Still—stay anchored. Stay close to the One who calms the storm and walks with you through it.

I’ll leave you with a verse that continues to challenge and comfort me:

📖 “‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.’” — Isaiah 55:8–9

Sometimes being anchored means trusting Him even when it doesn’t make sense. That’s where we’re headed next time—into the heart of surrender. Not the scary kind, but the kind that brings peace. The kind that whispers, “His way really is better.”

Until then, I’m so grateful to be walking this road with you.

Drop a comment if you want prayer. I’d be honored to pray with you. We’re in this together, and I’m so grateful you’re here.

With love and grace,
Ashley 🤍
