When You’re Tired of Waiting
When You’re Tired of Waiting
Staying Rooted in God When Life Feels Stalled
Hi sweet friend,
Have you ever felt stuck in a season of waiting?
Waiting for direction.
Waiting for healing.
Waiting for the right relationship.
Waiting for the job, the answer, the breakthrough.
Waiting can feel so quiet.
So confusing.
So long.
I’ve been there—praying the same prayers, watching the calendar pages turn, wondering if God sees, if He hears, if He’s forgotten.
And if I’m honest, there were times I didn’t just feel tired—I felt disappointed. Like maybe hope had misled me. Like maybe the silence meant no.
But here’s what I’ve learned: waiting doesn’t mean God is absent.
Waiting doesn’t mean He’s punishing you, or passing you by.
Often, waiting is the place where God does His deepest work—in you.
The In-Between Isn’t Wasted
We tend to think of waiting as a gap—an empty stretch of time between where we are and where we want to be.
We measure our lives in milestones, so the middle can feel like a blur. Like we’re just treading water until something finally shifts.
But friend, here’s the beautiful truth:
With God, no season is ever wasted.
The “in-between” is not a place of delay—it’s a place of development.
The waiting season isn’t a punishment.
It’s not a divine timeout.
It’s not a sign that you’re forgotten or failing.
It’s a holy classroom.
It’s where God teaches us what the fast-paced world never will:
-
That identity isn’t rooted in output.
-
That faith is forged in the unseen.
-
That trust is strengthened when the path is unclear.
In the waiting, God is growing things in the soil of your soul that can’t be rushed.
He’s anchoring you deeper before taking you higher.
Think about it:
-
David was anointed king long before he ever sat on a throne. He spent years tending sheep and dodging spears. In the quiet fields and dark caves, his character was refined. He learned to worship in hidden places before leading in public ones.
-
Joseph had prophetic dreams as a teenager—but then he was betrayed, enslaved, imprisoned. He probably wondered, Did I get it wrong? Has God left me? But all along, God was positioning him for purpose. Every delay was part of his preparation.
-
Jesus—the Savior of the world—spent thirty years in almost complete obscurity before He ever performed a miracle. No stage. No spotlight. Just quiet, faithful obedience in ordinary places. If Jesus didn’t rush His season, why should we?
Waiting might feel slow, but it is never still.
God is working in you while you're waiting on Him.
That ache in your chest? That longing for something more? It’s not just desire—it’s divine preparation.
📖 “But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” — Romans 8:25
Let that hope stretch your faith, not shrink your joy.
Let it deepen your trust, not harden your heart.
Let it remind you: this in-between space may not be flashy—but it is fertile.
The slow is sacred.
The middle is meaningful.
And the God who began a good work in you? He’s not finished yet. (Philippians 1:6)
What to Do When You Feel Forgotten
Let’s be real—sometimes waiting feels like being forgotten.
But God does not forget.
He is not late.
He is simply moving in ways you can’t yet see.
If you’re in a waiting season, here are a few soul-steadying truths to hold onto:
1. You’re Not Being Punished—You’re Being Prepared
It may not feel like it, but God is often preparing you for the thing you’re praying for.
He’s not just developing your circumstances—He’s developing you.
Strength. Wisdom. Dependence. Character.
The delay may actually be a mercy.
2. Faith Isn’t Just for the Future—It’s for the Middle
Faith isn’t passive—it’s active trust in the middle of the unknown.
You don’t have to wait until you see the outcome to believe God is good.
You can praise Him in advance.
You can say, “Even if I don’t see it yet, I believe You’re working.”
📖 “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.” — Lamentations 3:25
3. Focus on Presence, Not Progress
God may not be giving you answers right now, but He is offering you presence.
Sometimes the most beautiful part of waiting is realizing you already have the very thing your soul needs: Him.
Let this season draw you closer to His heart.
Journal Prompt: What Is God Growing in Me Right Now?
Grab your journal and ask:
-
What am I waiting on God for right now?
-
What emotions come up when I think about this delay?
-
In what ways might God be working behind the scenes—or inside my heart?
-
What would it look like to wait with Him instead of just waiting on Him?
Then write a simple prayer:
God, I don’t always understand the delay—but I trust that You’re in it.
Grow me in this space.
Let this waiting season make me more like You.
Help me hold onto hope, even when the answers feel far away.
Amen.
From My Heart to Yours
Waiting can feel lonely. But you’re not alone.
God is in the pause. In the quiet. In the not-yet.
He’s holding the things you don’t understand, and He’s holding you, too.
Don’t lose heart. Don’t rush past what He’s doing here.
This season may not be fast or flashy—but it is fertile.
And someday, when the answer comes, you’ll see that God was faithful the whole time.
Next time, we’ll talk about spiritual exhaustion—what to do when you’re running on empty, pouring out more than you’re receiving, and how to be refreshed in God again.
But for now, let hope rise again.
Even here.
Even in the waiting.
As always, drop a comment if you want prayer. I’d be honored to pray with you. We’re in this together, and I’m so grateful you’re here.
With so much love,
Ashley 🤍
